Project: Happy Friday Illustrations
Briefly: I am an American who has lived in the north west of England for nearly 14 years. I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Northern Illinois University in 1984 and an MA in Visual Design as Creative Practice from Blackpool and the Fylde College, an affiliate of Lancaster University in 2009.
For as long as I can remember I have always produced surreal child-like (now with an edge) pen and ink drawings. In fact, I went into the visual arts thinking I would like to do children’s book illustration or greeting cards. However periodically throughout my career this drawing has been set aside as different creative opportunities have been presented: other forms of illustration, cartoons for newspaper and magazines, graphic design, 3-D fine art commissions, workshop facilitation and poetry writing. Regardless of creative form, a common thread to all of my work is narrative and never in a traditional sense.
Creature Magazine has provided a platform for my pen and ink work to further develop digitally and to explore the effectiveness of different characters.Thank you Creature and Creature fans for this opportunity.
