The Carnivorous Cake,
Was a cackling clump,
Who laughed at the site,
Of a ubiquitous thumb,
Which was attached to a hand,
On the end of an arm,
Which reached out to grab,
The plate he lay on.

Wishing you a Happy Royal wedding Friday.

Nikki says: This illustrated note card is called ‘Ivy & Gold’ and it was inspired by my bike ride last week after I rode around Cheshire taking photos of flowers whilst the sun was going down. I saw a glow of gold light from the sun shine over an unlit street lamp covered in ivy and thought it looked beautiful.

It’s a small 210 gsm folded card and envelope, handmade in India from recycled cotton rag. It’s 5.7 x 6.2 cm when folded. I created it by cutting out the cover design freehand with a scalpel, drew a swirly pattern on the inside with a soft pencil, painted a black outline, coloured in the background with watercolours, and added ivy leaf details and swirls with Indian ink.
