Who are you?
‘Hello! I’m Sam and I draw, paint and occasionally make things. I am a freelance illustrator currently based in sunny Wales and I have no sense of smell!

What do you do?
I make colourful amusing images and pattern work.

How do you create these images?
I use a variety of different materials, but recently I have been producing more digital work. I am constantly working in sketchbooks and the pages are honest and full of ideas.

Who are your influences?
I really enjoy the works of Herve Tullett the children’s book illustration, Jean Jullien Illustrator, Matt the horse and Paul Plowman’s music videos.

What inspires your work?
I take inspiration from any and everything, whether it be the television I watch, people I see or exhibitions I visit.

What do you like?
I love impulsive people, expressive art and ‘rubbish’ TV including Celebrity Big Brother!

What don’t you like?
I don’t like producing predictable work.
